KIMSSEA Vertex Campus is a modular campus that blends innovation, healthcare, and community gathering. Developed in collaboration with Building Bloc, the project centers around the Vertex Bloc—a deployable microfactory for medical prototyping—while extending outward into a site-wide system of flexible learning, gathering, and production.
Design Approach
The design draws inspiration from the gentle waves of the existing roofs on site. These curves evolve into new architectural gestures: wave-shaped seating, curved canopy lines, and soft circulation paths that guide movement and create natural gathering pockets.
The Bloombox-inspired canopies serve as modular shade systems—scaling easily across the site to provide comfort from the African sun while visually unifying diverse spaces.
Key Features
Vertex Bloc Integration
A central prototype hub positioned to activate the courtyard—supporting visibility, innovation demos, and collaboration with local makers.Outdoor Learning Zones
Landscaped areas with built-in seating for hands-on workshops, public lectures, and student-led projects.Flexible Canopies (Bloombox System)
Lightweight, playful structures that expand the usable footprint of each unit while enhancing thermal comfort and spatial flow.Evening Activation
Soft lighting and intuitive paths support community engagement well into the evening, transforming the site into a social commons after dark.
My Role
As lead spatial designer, I translated the technical precision of modular infrastructure into a fluid, community-oriented masterplan. This included:
Vertex Bloc site placement
Bloombox canopy integration and rhythm
Outdoor learning zones and spatial flow
Landscape + lighting coordination
Full visual design package and renderings
KIMSSEA Vertex Campus is more than a facility—it’s a regenerative environment where innovation, education, and health infrastructure meet in movement and light.
