Look at a colour in context. Estimate it. Commit before revealing the sampled reference, then make one adjustment. This is a practice to explore, not a scientifically validated assessment of vision or painting ability.
The linear-light average inside the marker’s small square in a browser-decoded sRGB working image. The patch follows the displayed marker size; an edge notice flags median variation above ΔE00 5. After commitment, that patch stays fixed. Images larger than 2,048 pixels on their longest side are resized. Studio’s colour areas are separate Lab clusters from an image reduced to at most 400 pixels per side. Small areas may be omitted. Camera processing, colour profiles and your display affect what you see.
The 72 catalogue swatches and product links come from the supplied PIGMENT V1 catalogue. Swatches are approximate, not measured paint. CIEDE2000 compares screen colours: ≤2 close, ≤5 near, ≤10 approximate. These are product cutoffs, not universal paint-accuracy standards.
spectral.js 3.0.0 gives a subtractive mixing estimate from approximate swatches, not measured pigment spectra. Its proportions are model weights, not volumes. Actual paints differ in pigment, tinting strength, opacity, binder and spectral behaviour. Treat each answer as a starting point and try a small mix. Confirm product information with the linked manufacturer.
Your palette, hue-wheel settings and up to 200 committed observations are stored in this browser when storage is available. Each observation records the original estimate, sampled colour, patch dimensions and variation, point, image dimensions, timestamps and optional adjustment. Uploaded images and filenames are not saved. There is no account, tracking, image upload to a server or AI service.
V2 can copy a saved V1 palette on the same browser and origin. V1’s stored data is never changed. Clearing browser data also clears this record.
